Girly Gatherings is a group of women in their 20s and 30s who live or work in and around the Reading area. We're all all keen to make friends, meet new people and try new things- after all nothing beats a chat and a laugh over a glass of wine with good girlfriends! We love nothing better than meeting up for girly gatherings- we've done everything from ceroc dancing and cupcake decorating to live comedy and dinners out, with a few drinks along the way. The group is organised by Alexis, Lucy a …
I set this up as I need more motivation to read regularly !! If you are reading this, you probably do too !! Plus I would like to meet other readers to chat about the last book read - and what better place than in one of Henley's fine venues over a glass of something ! I see myself as the club founder not the leader, so choosing the book and the venue rotates across us all ... For the moment we feel we have enough members, as a Book Club can only be so big, as since setting this up in Jan 2011 …
This group is open to anyone who likes reading and likes to share their views on books. A degree in English Literature is not required! We'll meet up on the second Wednesday of each month to talk about a book that members have voted to read.

In the past few years, my personal love and appreciation for a top quality curry has grown a little out of control. Therefore, rather than attempt to tame this particular desire, I thought 2011 would represent a great opportunity to pull a together a group of people from Reading and the surrounding area and attempt to work our way through the local offerings. On a serious note, aside from sharing our opinions on the culinary delights that await us, I am hoping this will be a good chance to meet …

We are also a place for people to suggest and announce other social events like theatre or comedy night trips. If you have an idea for an event you'd like to have listed on this site, please let me know. You should have a date and venue in mind (not just a vague idea that you'd like someone to run something) and you have to be sure that you (or some other nam …

… I don't think Starbucks is a particularly good venue for a poetry workshop, and as hiring a room in an arts centre is expensive, I propose holding the workshop in my flat in Reading. I hope this will make the workshop accessible to poets in London and Oxford (Reading is less than half an hour on the train from both these places, and my flat is 10 minutes walk from the station) as well as those in Reading.
Although called Caversham Critics, this book group is open to all friendly Reading based fiction lovers. We have been studying Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich for a year and realised that it would be great to mastermind with more like-minded people. The purpose of the group is to gain an in-depth understanding of the methods that are detailed in the book. As a group we decide what to read each week and come to the meeting to discuss and expand our knowledge using study notes. The meeting usually lasts 1.5 hours.
