My husband is balder now, thanks to my love of classic fiction and my inability to keep quiet about it. In an effort to maintain marital peace (and perhaps to keep a few threads of hair attached to his poor head), I decided to start a book discussion group centered on classic novels. The purpose of the group, then, will be to dive into the worlds created by some of history's most famous authors: Steinbeck, Twain, Austin, Dostoevsky, and, of course, Dickens, just to name a few. If you also enj …

Also, we have snacks brought by members that also coincide with something from the book. If the movie is playing at the theater, we meet there. If not, we meet at a group member's …

Like to read out loud? Like to act? Join us as we find the character of a story by engaging with others. We use scenes from plays, even write our own scripts from books and movies... Anything that gets us reading and into the drama of a text. Good voice and acting chops are a plus, but I turn away nobody who has theater blood in them!

The Dickens Chicks book club is all about ladies reading Classic Literature. We have spent the last year building our literary muscles, so it seems a natural extension of this would be to see if the movies are as good as the books. With that in mind, we are starting a supplemental group to our book club: Dickens Chicks at the Movies. We will continue to read the Classics on the last Sunday of each month, but in between those readings, we'll meet again to watch the movies that go along with these …

I love to read! But somehow my busy life just gets in my way. This book club is my little gift to myself. Lets pick a great book and commit to reading it every month and then get together to discuss! There's only one rule in this book club: NO DOWNERS!! I read for fun, not to be bummed out ;) Because this group is brand new, I'm still working a few things out: 1. I'm trying to get the use of the barn for the monthly meetup 2. If it's not the barn, I'll host it at my house and hopefully eventuall …

If you love to read books and watch the subsequent film adaptation, then this group is perfect for you. Are you tired of working a 9 to 5? Would you like to retire before 65? I am 26 years of age and since the age of 18, I managed my money horribly for ever so long because I wanted everything I could not afford. It was when I first read the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki that inspired me to look at my finance on a whole different level. After reading his book, I read a book by his wife, Kim Kiyosaki called "Rich Woman". I was automatically hipped. This meetup group is to bring togeth …
