I always get good book recommendations from people in reading groups I've belonged to in the past. Hence the reason for a  book-reading group here in Nevada City/Grass Valley for all to join. The purpose: Read a good book every month and get together to discuss it, then pick another. Ideally, books are in a range higher than Danielle Steel/Barbara Cartland and slightly lower than Kierkegard and "War and Peace" (just because 1,200-word, heavy-duty books seem hard to finish in a month). The Auburn State Recreation Area Canyon Keepers (ASRACK) is a volunteer group that promotes healthy recreation by providing assistance and information for visitors to the state park.
