I just moved to Cary and I want to start a book club for women interested in reading and sharing a book together. Our first meeting will be at my home on Wed. December 7th at 9:30 am. In conjunction with each performance of the Deep Dish Theater Company, a book is selected that relates to the theme of the play. A conversation about the book is scheduled and the public is invited. It is not necessary to have seen the play to participate; many choose to watch the play after the book discussion. The discussion is free and no prior registration is required.

… I think we all agree that one of the benefits of a book group like ours is reading good, discussible books that we might not ordinarily read if left to our own devices.  For example, I personally LOVE mysteries and detective stories, but they are usually not good food for discussion. So we read mostly literary fiction and memoirs. There is a Reading List in our Files section where you can see everything the group has read so far along with a few of our future possibilities.

Our activities and events are based on compassionately promoting ways to encourage the public to make vegan diet choices, with the eventual goal of more vegans and vegan options in North Carolina.
