This group started out as a traditional book club but I discovered quickly that fun people don't particularly like homework to do before being social. So I developed a book club for people who don't have time to read the book but like to get together with friends and talk about...well...books. So now you have the option of reading the book ahead of time and then seeing the movie with friends or simply seeing the movie with friends. Either way after the movie we go to dinner and discuss. If you'v …
As a lover of reading, I am always surrounded by others talking about great books they are currently or have recently read. I was shocked to find there were no Meetup book clubs in our area. I would love a chance to meet new women and discuss books that are read by the group and get recommendations for books to be read outside of the group. This book club/reading group will mainly be focused on a casual book discussion (not analysis) and meeting new friends. If you love reading and want to make …

When I moved to Nashville, I had trouble making new friends. Being a mother of a toddler, working full time and also going to school - I could barely find the time to get out. I started my own book club, and it was a success. Now I would like to begin one in the Tri-Cities as well for when I visit my hometown, as this will be a great way for me to get together with my friends I still have there. So many of my old Tri-Cities friends were always like "I wish your club was here, I'd love to join." …
Calling all book lovers! I love books and I love talking about books. My vision for this book club is that we will all find opportunities to try new books we may not otherwise have read, go back and re-read some of your favorites, and have an open, judgement-free zone where we can talk books, books, and more books! This will be an alcohol-free group, and is open to both men and women. It certainly can be fun to talk about other things but I would like to emphasize actually discussing books at th …

Our mission is to support one another and fellows hip with others who share a common entity; reading. We don't have a particular genre that we stick to because we want to expose ourselves to as much as we possibly can and we feel that the more variety we have, the more we learn. We do, however, read book written primarily by and about African American's and others of African decent but are open to reading almost anything. Our BC is primarily women but it is also open to men.

It will also serve as a book exchange whereby members can share with others their book collection, borrow and circulate books among themselves. Unlike most Book Club, members are not made to read and discuss the same book but can choose to read and sha …

We are poets and writers of short prose with a desire to share our work and derive motivation from the creativity of others. We are not a writing work shop or an avenue to publication. Although, in time we may become the basis for a local poetry magazine. For lack of a better description, we are "amateur" poets that are driven by our muse to give birth to the things we write and seek communion with others devoted to the creative process of putting words down on paper. Our mission is to bring loc …

I’m starting this group because (1) I enjoy reading military history and (2) I enjoy discussing books with smart people. I’d like to meet people with broad interests in military history who are willing to read and discuss books spanning all of human history, rather than a narrow focus on one conflict or era: there is something to be learned from any war, I think. We will meet once a month, to discuss the book we'd voted on. Ideally, one or two persons will serve as primary discussion leaders: p …

Welcome and aloha! Stand up as been around a while but is taking off like crazy here in greater Charlotte area. The number one reason Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Surfing (or just SUP, or Hoe he'e nalu) is taking the country by storm is because anyone can join in the fun. In fact, most of us so far in the group are new to the sport. SUP just has a ton of benefits over other sports--especially during the hot later Summer months: Builds balance as well as fitness Strong core and full body workout …
If you want a "no guilt" book club where you don't have to attend every meeting and we don't make you feel guilty when you miss, this club might be right for you. Our purpose is to promote reading great books. It's the benefit you'll receive from reading the book with the added value of participating in the discussion that makes us worth your time. I spent many years in book clubs and many others simply reading the chosen selections and not being able to attend the meetings because of a work con …

We meet every third Saturday evening of the month (usually) to read one of Shakespeare's plays aloud. People who like Shakespeare's work and want to learn more about it are welcome to join. No acting experience is necessary. When the RSVPs are in for a particular reading, I post a tentative cast list, usually two to three weeks beforehand. Those who RSVP after the casting deadline may attend the meeting, but will be admitted on a standby basis: as space permits, and as availability of role …

“ The books that help you most are those which make you think the most. While our focus is on African-American Literature, we are open to reading it all and promise a lively discussion no matter …
