Our multi-lingual program is geared towards reading and learning. Each program focuses on stories, songs and enriching activities in one South Asian Language along with at least one English language story or activity within the half-hour story time. Meet kindred book lovers in the Rockland/Bergen County area. While we may occasionally read a modern classic (Lolita, Catch-22), we read mostly classic works written before 1950 (check our calendar to sample our book selection). We emphasize novels and plays important within the history of literature or have some historical interest. We have friendly, topical discussions about what we enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and found interesting in our reading while making some literate friends in the process. G …

WE ARE CLOSED TO NEW MEMBERSHIP AT THIS TIME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST The Westchester Women's Book Club is a reading and discussion group for women only. All are welcome to join, but a photo of yourself is required. If you are extremely uncomfortable with your photo being posted on a web site contact me about sending it in an email. We meet once a month on a weeknight at a local inexpensive eatery to discuss the month's selection. Primarily this is a book club but from time to time we may …
Once upon a last week, two recent graduates decided they wanted to read something other than romance novels for a change (or not...). So we're starting this group in hopes of finding other people with a passion for reading, and a willingness to embark upon a most ambitious quest: to read as many of the "top 100 novels" as we possible can. However we don't want to limit ourselves to just those - we hope to explore, examine, and be entertained by all different types of genres. There is no li …
Are you interested in joining a book club but don't have time to read a whole book? Interested in meeting other 20s/30s? This informal reading and discussion group is for you! Tell us about anything you have read recently, on any topic, in any genre (blog post, a headline, a poem, magazine article, a recipe, a children's book etc.) and share some excerpts (about 5 mins) to discuss with the group!
Hello my fabulous book club pals! For those of you who are new-or semi new-just be for warned we are mostly a social club. Yes, we discuss the book but its pretty darn casual. We mostly drink wine and chat our brains off. This club was designed for those of us cool folk who lived in the area and wanted to have pals in the hood. SO far ( for the past year!) we have been SUPER successful at this! SO be ready to laugh your head off and chat and sorta talk about the book. Sometimes I do read the boo …

I just moved to Westchester from Long Island, where there were book clubs galore. I can't seem to find any here. I'm 25 and I wanted to meet other book-lovers around my age in the area. Encompassing a wide variety of genres and authors from children's books to classics, we'll aim to read a new book every two or three weeks. We'll meet to discuss the books in a relaxed informal enviroment. Even though we're a 35 and younger meetup group if you're an older person interested in hanging out with you …

There are many conservative authors out there and everyone that is a part of the group enjoys reading books about politics, or at least civics. Most books will be non-fiction although some relevant fiction may be picked. All are welcome who possess a genuine and keen interest in reading about and discussing politics and who want to be a part of a local book club.
I decided to start this book club to create a group of like minded individuals that enjoy reading about interesting people. It should be interesting to hear different view points from the group about the focused people's personalities, the effect they had on others, and/or by what they contributed to their region, nation or to the world, whether it was a positive influence or controversial. Not that other books can't be chosen too, we seem to be drifting toward biographies.
A casual and friendly reading/discussion group. We are planning to read texts such as Plato, Kieregaard & Nietzsche.

Sick of Baby Einstein? Looking for a little bit of adult conversation? Enjoy reading? Then this Meetup group is for you. I am a former high school English teacher who has decided to leave the school classroom for a bit to stay home. I enjoy being home, but I found I really missed talking about books with people. That was the initial impetus for starting the group. I also needed to read something more advanced than Dr. Seuss to ward off brain atrophy (ha ha). We read everything from ficti …

"We are literally children of the earth, and removed from her our spirits wither or run to various forms of insanity. Unless we can refresh ourselves at least by intermittant contact with nature, we grow awry."
