Looking for an eclectic group of Washingtonians interested in visiting (or re-visiting) literature that we should have read in high school or college...as well as classic books that we recognize the name of but, well, erm, we've never actually read. Meet-up in person with wine/beer/tea to discuss our impressions!

The Great Books Reading Group is not a literature club. It is a discussion group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to learning and exploring the past and present. We are reading from the St. John's College Reading List. As we read foundational texts in the Western tradition, we examine mysticism, history, theology, the earth and physical sciences, mathematics, philosophy and government, as well as art, literature and music.

This meetup is designed to help non-speakers learn to speak, write and read the Yoruba language in a fun, friendly and casual environment with a yoruba speaker. I'm an African who learned to speak and read the language at the early age of 9. Will love to help others do the same! :) I'm not a teacher or tutor, (not yet) just a lover of the language. Will like to try and help!  We can have fun coming up with cool ideas to learn and have fun with it. I may be able to help with Pidgin English too …

The Dupont Circle Reading Railroad is a literature club centered on discussion, friendship, wine and exploration of various mediums (poetry, graphic novels, stories, film, theater).

This group is for anyone who has heard of a classic work of literature, and wished they knew more...It is ment to be an enjoyable, relaxing group who collectively selects a book to read & discuss. We may not meet every month, but maybe every few months-since some of the works may take some time to go through-it will all depend on the selection of the month.
